More than just Chubby Cheeks!

We thought that we might have a chubby baby when Makenna was first born, and we got a glimpse of those cheeks, but now it has been confirmed. Her chubbiness has spread from her cheeks to first her legs, then her stomach, and now even her arms. She even has a crease between her chubby arms and her chubby hands! In another month or two, we think that we might start hiding our valuables in her rolls. We figure it would be a great place to stash some extra cash!

Daddy's Valentine

Well, Makenna had a fun first Valentine's Day thanks to her Daddy. He gave Makenna her first flowers. They matched her pink velour jumpsuit very nicely. She thanked him with lots of smiles and coos. John also made me dinner. "Linguine Alla Carbonara," fancy huh? All this time I thought that John didn't know how to cook. Well, it turns out that he can cook, he just pretends he can't so that he doesn't have to. But now his secret is out!
John also bought me some silk pajamas. He said that the pajamas that I had been wearing recently were "ridiculous". I thought about being offended for a minute, but then I tried on the silk pajamas and realized how amazingly comfortable they are.

Do I Look Sick or Haughty??

Despite my best attempts to prevent it, it has happened...Makenna has her first cold. Maybe is has something to do with the fact that her hands are constantly in her mouth. Is there an easy way to sanitize a baby's hands? So far she just has a stuffy/runny nose, and is still her cute happy self, so we are hoping that it doesn't get any worse.

At church on Sunday, a woman told me that Makenna's normal facial expression makes her look like she is disgusted by something, and that she would probably always have that look. This same woman then told John that Makenna looks like she thinks she is better than everyone else. I didn't know that a 3-month old baby could have such thoughts and feelings of superiority!

Mak in the Pod

I bought Makenna a BeBe Pod yesterday because she loves to be held upright and look around, and I usually end up carrying her around in my arms in a sitting position. She isn't quite 3 months old yet (the recommended age) but since she is the size of a 4 or 5 month old, I figured it would be safe to put her it it. She seemed to like it a lot, although she did get tired after a little while. I can't blame her though, holding up such chubby cheeks is hard work!

Smile

Makenna is smiling all of the time now, but will not smile for the camera (she just stares at it). In order to get this shot, John had the camera sitting on the table out of her line of sight. She loves to watch John make funny faces. It was during this activity on Monday night that she giggled for the first time. It was SO cute. I look forward to many more giggles in the future.

I Give In!!

I have finally given in to the many requests made by my sister to start a blog. I don't really know what I am doing, but I am sure that I will learn quickly, and maybe I'll even enjoy it! It has been so wonderful for me to have an older sister to learn from and to turn to for advice. This has been especially true since having our babies. Kate is 3 1/2 months older than Makenna, so I have been able to benefit from Amanda's experiences, and Kate's clothes when she outgrows them!
