We're heading back to school in the fall. And although we are not exactly sure where we will end up yet, we are sure that we will be going somewhere.
John applied to 6 different schools, and so far we have heard back from 3 of them, and he has been accepted to all of them! A few weeks ago, we found out that John had been accepted to the business school (McCombs) at the University of Texas in Austin (go Longhorns!), and today we found out that he was accepted to BYU's b school (Marriott) as well. (He was also accepted to the University of Nebraska, and although it would be nice to be able to stay close to my family, it was more of a backup school, so is out of the picture.)
I am torn on where I want to go. On the one hand, I absolutely loved my experience at BYU, and I think I would like to go back. It is familiar to me, and way cheaper than Texas. Plus, I know there would be lots of other young moms to hang out with. But, most of my fond memories of BYU are tied with my experiences of being on Folk dance, and meeting and falling in love with John. Would it ruin my perfect memories to go back and not officially be a part of BYU, just be on the sideline?? The jury is still out on that one.
On the other hand, I think it would be really fun to live in Austin, and explore a new city. I also think that I would enjoy the warmer weather. But, unlike BYU, I'm sure that I will be one of only a select group of moms, and John and I would be further in debt than we would be if we went to BYU.
Luckily since we are still waiting to hear back from 3 more schools, we don't have to make any decisions right now. I guess I should just be grateful that he has been accepted to multiple schools, and we will have a choice to make.

Hook 'em Horns! You'd love Little Longhorns, it's such a fun group. And what's a little debt when you get a big fat signing bonus!!! It's awesome you've gotten into so many schools, that's such a relief!
Hey, it's nice to have options for sure! Good luck making this big decision and starting a new chapter in your lives! Are you going back to school to or just John?
yeah....im rooting for texas too :) i mean, once john's professors meet him, they're bound to want to give him all sorts of assistantships. and then you can come visit us in houston and i can show you round the space center and john can dance around the meadows playing an imaginary flute while we cheer him on with resounding choruses of Hop-a! :)
Congrats, John! If we were still going to be at BYU, I'd tell you to come here. However, we won't so it's your decision. I do have to say that a lot of my friends with kids really miss the good group of moms out here when they leave.
Sorry about that deleted comment, I wasn't finished and it posted. But anyway what great news! 3 for 3 is dang good, go John! We're excited to hear where you choose to go.
Here are some facts to consider: Last night it was 10 degrees here in Provo and I slip on ice about 3 times a day.
Austin may have "warmer weather," but that's a euphamism for mind-melting heat.
Instead, go to Chicago once Northwestern accepts John. :)
But...but...but...you can't leave, didn't you tell John that???
Congrats! James and Chelsea really like living in Austin.
Congratulations! The stress/excitement of decision-making! Good luck!
congrats on going back to school. it is a hard choice. the cheaper tuition for byu is always more enticing. but ive loved all of our non church school experiences. good luck with the next three schools and the final decision.
Congrats on all school acceptance letters! It's nice to have options! Tyson will surely miss his girl though!
Wow! That is fun! I think Jessi and Eric are trying to decide the same things. Good luck with that decision! James is in Austin!
